Wooden toys have been with us for thousands of years, which does mean that wood was the first material used for making toys. In archaeologist digs wooden toys have been unearthed, still recognisable, so one reason, that of longevity, is why, natural wooden toys are made today. Today's natural wooden toys are made from several different types of wood, some softwoods and some hardwoods.
